Want to venture down your own journey of jewellery making?
Having received his Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching from Dunedin College of Education, Robert is not only a master jeweller with a wealth of experience, but also a terrific teacher. His workshops are designed to teach you the fundamentals of jewellery making, ensuring you are comfortable with the basics and enabling you to build and create your own designs.
Our workshops are immersive, hands on and educational - but above all, they are unique, inquisitive and incredibly memorable. In a nutshell, it’s like an accredited jewellery making course without the assignments, stress and the hefty price tag. You’ll not only leave fulfilled and content about having crafted a hand-made piece of your own, but you’ll also get a glimpse behind the scenes of the life of a jeweller.
Whether you’re a group of friends looking for a fun activity, a partner wanting to surprise their special someone with a one-of-a-kind experience or a couple wanting to shape your own wedding bands or, these workshops can be tailored to your wishes. Everything is supplied, all you need to bring is the creative spirit and a desire to make something beautiful with your own hands.
What you’ll make!
Our classes are bespoke and customised. To start off with, you will start by making a sterling silver ring. Any further pieces of jewellery you’d like to make (ie a ring, pendant or earrings) can be discussed after we’ve learned and created the basics.
In this first workshop, you’ll learn to talk about jewellery like a pro, all the technical details from metal cutting and texturing, to soldering and drilling. Robert will teach you how to accurately measure and plan for your piece, how to shape and dome your metal to fit your placement and finish it off for a premium finish. All products you make will be patinated and can be engraved.
Want to take your skill to the next level?
In our higher level jewellery classes, we’ll start bringing your own ideas and designs to life. With the help of Robert guiding you along the way, these workshops are a place where you’ll learn about stone setting, develop your handcraft and workshop your technical skills. This workshop is aimed to give you the confidence and skill to gain a deeper understanding of the variety of jewellery making, as well as building custom designed pieces to hold and to cherish.

Classes start from $150pp including light refreshments - additional charges depending on materials requested.
Robert is qualified to teach all levels of expertise, catering for basic ring making, stone setting, casting and use of precious metals to name a few. The only limit is imagination!
